Cyclone Swim Club

Debbie Murray

HEAD COACH

I began my swimming career as a young YMCA swimmer, scouted by the Head Coach of the Cambridge AquaJets Swim Club, and signed up for what would be many years as a developing competitive swimmer.  Competition came naturally to me and I enjoyed being part of the "team" and the experiences we shared.

I began my coaching career as a volunteer for the local swim club and later became the Head Coach for 14 consecutive years.  In 1997 the Cyclone Swim Club was launched and I accepted the position as Head Coach and have enjoyed being on deck for the past 22 years and look forward to beginning my 23rd season in this role.

Currently, I am a fully certified Level 2 coach through the National Coaching Certification Program with my Level 3 Technical and Theory components completed.  In addition I bring the following certifications;  Water Safety Advanced Instructor & Examiner, First Aid Instructor & Examiner, National Lifesaving Instructor & Examiner, Pool Supervisor, High Five Instructor & Examiner - Child development, and work full time as a Lifeguard/Instructor/Receptionist at the Memorial Sports Centre.

My passion for the past 36 years on deck has been sharing my love of swimming and watching the success of young developing swimmers.  Coaching the "whole" swimmer has provided many experiences for me both professionally and personally.  The success of each swimmer equals my success in a variety of opportunities and shared commitments.  It is through these experiences that I consider myself a role model, mentor, and hopefully a lifelong friend.

In closing, I look forward to continuing in my coaching position and the experiences to follow.

I was a competitive swimmer for over 13 years! I turned to coaching at the age of 20 with the local clubs and have been with the Cyclones for 12 years.

Kim Murray

Assistant Coach

I started my path of development and competitive swimming at the age of six and enjoyed many years traveling to competitions.

I began to coach two years ago with the Cyclone Swim Club and attained my coaching certification in Swimming 101 this past year in Kenora. I work full time outside of the pool and enjoy the opportunity to coach the youth of our swim programs on my days off.

In closing, I look forward to continuing in my coaching position and the experiences to follow.
